Everyone goes into a party, event, or gathering with exceptions and hopes of what will happen and how the experience will turn out. So when you know you are going to be drinking, what are your exceptions?
Do you just want to joke, laugh, and hang out with friends?
Or are you hoping to get "hammered" and not remember the next morning what you did the next?
Maybe you have a special someone you just want to loosen up around and get to know?
So... we want to know... what do you hope to get out of your different drinking experiences?

With drinking, it helps clear my head and I find my self more social. I definitely enjoy a good laugh and hanging out with friends. There are even times when getting into a -friendly-, heated debate is great when drunk.
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely some things that I wouldn't do without drinking, and experiencing those things was definitely worth it. Well, that's if you don't count the trips to the porcelain goddess. Drinking opens the doors to new friends, relationships, and other activities in the future. Being in a college town, drinking can definitely improve your social awareness and possibly status.
I am generally a control freak, so drinking can either be scary or fun for me. I'm not really the kind of person who can enjoy going downtown and dancing all over people in the clubs- at least it's very hard for me to let go and have enough drinks to get there- but I do love being around people I trust and having a few drinks. It feels okay to be out of control, but only in front of the people I trust.
ReplyDeleteI feel like my expectations depend a lot on where I'm going to be. Whenever I go downtown with a group of people, I'd say that I volunteer to drive probably 90% of the time. This is not because I want to be the designated driver but that I trust myself to know that I've only had a couple drinks and that I'm okay rather than to hear someone else tell me they're fine. Secondly, there are times when I've had too much to drink and there's just something about being away from my home base and not being in control if the situation that I don't like. So whenever I go downtown I expect to have a couple drinks, have some good laughs, hang out with friends and to also drive home completely sober. Now a house party in my own neighborhood on the other hand can sometimes be a different story altogether.
